ASK FOR HELP!

JDISeptemberblog6.jpg

"We’re all imperfect and we all have needs. The weak usually do not ask for help, so they stay weak. If we recognize that we are imperfect, we will ask for help and we will pray for the guidance necessary to bring positive results to whatever we are doing." — John Wooden.

At GDP Equity Experts we will always encourage people who are struggling with debt to ASK FOR HELP! Many of us believe that asking for help shows a sign of weakness, uncertainty, dependent on others or unsure what to do next. It is human nature that we try to do everything ourselves. But the truth is, we never do anything on our own.

If you have read our 7 Step Guide to Breaking Free from Negative Equity, you will see from our first step that asking for help is the most important step of the recovery process. Although, this is within our negative equity guide it is a step that should be considered for all types of debt and in fact any kind of challenge or adversity you might face in your own life.

This week a number of news stations are reporting that two in three people have a secret debt which they have kept hidden for more than a year, and that instead of seeking help to resolve the debt they would take out a consolidation or payday loan to repay any existing balances. Clearly this is not a solution, moreso kicking the can very much down the road.  A consumer expert stated that simply ignoring the debt or hiding it from loved ones is more than likely going to make the situation worse and any stress of worrying could lead you to make ill-advised financial decisions and have grave consequences for your future.

What can I do now?

Remember, debt is not something that you should be ashamed of, as you will not be alone in this. Only a couple of months ago it was reported that nearly a quarter of Britons were struggling to make ends meet and that 62% often worried about their level of personal debt.   The levels of negative equity in our economy right now still remain very high, and it is important that those effected by this at the very least become aware of some of the options available to them.

If you do have an outstanding debt problem, it isn’t going to go away – you need to ACT NOW!

You need a plan of action for how you are going to approach your creditors in an attempt to come to an arrangement that will allow you to get on with your life again.

What can we do to help?
