Time Is Priceless… So Waste It Wisely
They say the best things in life are free and this quote really got me thinking. There are lots of things in life I would consider to be the best that are free. Family, laughter, love, the truth…now there is an interesting one. The truth doesn’t cost you anything, but lies could cost you everything, so when it comes to debt advice always be on your guard and challenge everything you are being told.
I was speaking to a friend of mine recently who is a reputable professional from Enniskillen. We were philosophically discussing life and this brought us on to talking about how everything in life has a cost and nothing is free. Whether it’s something tangible, like a screw, that has a monetary value. Whether it is pressure from a bank, which has a significant cost, that will not be reflected on their balance sheet. Everything, no matter what angle you look at it, has a cost.
When clients and other professionals learn the significant commute I undertake each day, a natural point for them to make is that I must not have any free time. Free time, what’s that? There is no such thing as time is the most precious resource we have. Time is like money, it’s value is priceless and if not spent wisely, it can be wasted. It’s a morbid thought, but we ultimately pay for our time on earth with our own demise so we should all take note and waste our time wisely.
So all this talk about cost and time, what does it all mean and what am I trying to get at? Basically it all comes down to cost-effectiveness. Cost-effectiveness is all about the return received in proportion to the cost spent. It is all about weighing up how you invest your own resources to get the best outcome for you – no matter what it is you are trying to achieve. Sometimes you think you have lost, but you will always WIN, especially if you look at What’s Important Now.
You see, I am a big believer in doing what you do and doing it well. I’m a Chartered Accountant who has always worked in financial recovery and rescue industry so that’s what I do. The same applies if you are a baker and you make bread or if you are a mechanic and you work with cars. It always amuses me when I see people who dabble in other areas of expertise. To me they have lost focus on their own game and should concentrate on being the best and what they do.
The philosophy applies no matter what you do but what if you can’t focus on that? What if you have debt worries, financial stresses, and are unaware of the solutions and these are preventing you from doing what you do, and doing it well. What if your Negative Equity is distracting you from achieving at work or at your other life goals? You should not let debt consume your life. Never let a bad debt make you think you have a bad life.
